Diving Holidays In Khao Lak

Khao Lak is a seaside resort in Thailand, which is popular as a departure point for diving the Similan and Surin Islands. Khaolak is named after the national park (Khao Lak-Lam Ru). The park was declared a national park in August 1991. It occupies a vast area of 150 and covers Amphoe Thai Muang, Amphoe Kapong, Amphoe Takua Pa and Amphoe Muang. Easy to reach from Phuket you can walk northward along the sand for many kilometres, almost as far as Bang Sak beach. Most larger hotels will run a shuttle bus service into Bang La On, often described as Khao Lak ‘centre’, with its shops, bars and restaurants.

Diving Season In Khao Lak

The Similan and Surin Islands Park Authorities are responsible for protecting the natural environment within the park and ensuring safety of visitors to it. They close the park between middle may and middle October. While Khao Lak has more to offer than just the diving as diving the Similan and Surin Islands is the main diving attraction here during the closed season we suggest the better diving is to be had from Phuket.
