Gozo, the "Jewel of the Mediterranean" is recommended for both highly and non-qualified / experienced divers. Boat dives will get you to some spectacular locations and they generally carry a mixture of photographers and ordinary divers, led by an instructor or dive master as guide.

All of the dive centers on Gozo offer the option to hire a car / jeep and go on unaccompanied shore dives if you have the right scuba qualification. The benefit is that you can start off quicker than the dive trips or after the morning rush at the dive center.
It offers all year round diving but the best time to dive is in July /August, try to avoid diving at mid-day.

Dive sites –

A lot of the coastline is made up of limestone cliffs which are only diveable by boat, but there are still a lot of interesting sites that can be easily dived from the shore. Gozo has a fascinating underwater world to offer; you can dive reefs, drop offs and caves, wrecks and much more.
However, one or two sites like Ta Cenc and Wied il-Ghasri need a bit of hike down steps, just take your time on them.
