Situated on the north coast of Mauritius, in Kalodyne, close to the fishermen’s village of Grand Gaube, Zilwa Attitude hotel, with its 100% Mauritian concept, is different and unique in Mauritius.
This 4* hotel is the ideal address for holidays full of discoveries, emotions and pleasures, the ideal place to relax, to recharge one’s batteries, to slow down, to share the simple and genuine life of the islanders. Zilwa is the Creole word for “islander”. The Creole language is understood and spoken by all Mauritians and has borrowed and interwoven words and expressions, quaint and amusing, old and modern from languages spoken by all races and cultures living on the island. During your stay, you will discover that Zilwa Attitude pays a smiling tribute to Creole throughout the hotel.
The contemporary rustic chic architecture and Mauritian design of the hotel take their source of inspiration in the traditional homes or the seaside bungalows. The thatch, tin or shingle roofs, the wax-coated cement “béton ciré” floors, the rough walls, together with floated wood, raffia, ravenala*, ceruse and rattan furniture, are all reminders of the lifestyle of the island. A few “design” details here and there add to the special style and atmosphere of this hotel. Zilwa Attitude takes care of the national heritage by promoting and doing credit to Mauritian artists, writers, architects and craftsmen.
Built in an arc around a beautiful beach, Zilwa Attitude offers a breathtaking view of the 5 islands of the northern coast. A few meters from the shore, Gran Zil and Ti Zil, two very small private islands invite guests to either, relax and enjoy a delicious barbecue at lunch time or a massage at any time during the day.
Of the 214 rooms, some are more family orientated others are quieter and slightly in the background for couples, have a rustic atmosphere and a contemporary charm. They have been thought and designed to match everyone’s expectations.
