Tour Highlights
The seas of the Sultanate of Oman occupy an isolated corner of the Indian Ocean, where some of the world's most varied and biologically productive waters are found. In the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea, vast open-ocean plains, canyons and trenches of extreme depth abruptly meet the coastline forming underwater cliffs several kilometers high.
This contrasts with the gently sloping continental shelf of the Arabian Gulf and northern Gulf of Oman and has resulted in a great diversity of marine habitats. For scuba divers, the deep drop off and cool water up welling provides an abundance of plankton, making this area a rich feeding ground for a large variety of marine life.
The diving in Fujairah is considered the best in the whole of the UAE and with a reef trailing 55 miles off the coast, most spots are no more than a few hundred feet from the shore. Fujairah is the only Emirate to face the Indian Ocean and which gives you a chance to sample its blood warm waters. The diving is as varied and as interesting as that found in the Red Sea, but is certainly less busy.
The Musandam Peninsula is the northernmost part of Oman jutting out into the Strait of Hormuz at the entrance to the Persian Gulf. Musandam is separated from the rest of Oman by several of the United Arab Emirates - Ras al Khaimah and Fujairah. Musandam more or less begins where the mountains rise from the plains of Ras al Khaimah.

Musandam
The Musandam peninsula is separated from the rest of Oman by a stretch of the United Arab Emirates. The Musandam peninsula has remained isolated from the rest of Arabia and is still very remote. Sparsely populated by the Shihuh tribe, who for centuries have been eking a precarious existence from the seas. Some of their villages are only accessible by sea the capital of Musandam is Khasab accessible by road.
Geographically, the area is a huge pale limestone massif characterised by large strata crossed saw tooth mountains which dramatically descend into the sea. The coastline itself carved into spectacular fjord like sunken valleys (khwars) giving Musandam its other name of the Norway of Arabia. The stunning scenery above the surface is reflected underwater by impressive drop offs and an incredible diversity of healthy corals, encouraging strong currents.

Dubai
Dubai is located on the Persian Gulf, in the northeast of the United Arab Emirates. Dubai is the second largest emirate with an urban area of 3885 sq km and the city is roughly 35 sq km. However it will expand to twice that size with the addition of the man-made islands; the Waterfront, the three Palms, the World, the Universe, Dubailand, as well as the construction in the desert. One of the most fascinating geographical aspects of Dubai, is its Creek, which divides the city into two regions. Dubai Creek is made up of a natural 9.5 mile inlet in the Persian Gulf, around which the city’s trade developed.
Dubai also has the highest population, sharing its borders with Abu Dhabi in the south, Sharjah in the northeast and the Sultanate of Oman in the southeast.
Dubai is an astounding place! It is not only growing at a truly phenomenal speed; it is the scale, design and sheer quality of the new developments that is making the world sit up in astonishment!
Dubai not only has the largest marina in the world, the largest man-made harbour -at Jebel Ali, the biggest artificial island and largest motorway intersection, it also has the world's tallest hotel, the spectacularly designed, 1053 feet high, Burj-al-Arab, the only 7-star hotel in the world.
Beautifully shaped like the billowing sail of an Arab dhow and built on its own man-made island surrounded by the warm turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf, it is a truly global architectural icon. It represents Dubai, symbolically, like the Sydney Opera House represents Sydney and the Eiffel Tower, Paris.
