Colombo City

4* The Residence by Uga, Colombo

Bed & Breakfast

Your trip begins in Colombo, the historical capital of Sri Lanka. You’ll stay for 2 days to get acclimatised, recover from the long flight and soak up the atmosphere. Colombo is a vibrant city, busy with people living their lives. Commanding a strategic position on the east to west trade routes, Colombo has more than 2,000 years of trading history. This has created an interesting mix of modern buildings, colonial architecture and ancient monuments.

Built by barrister Sheikh Salehboy Moosajee in the 19th Century, the Residence by Uga is one of the most lavish boutique hotels in Colombo. You’ll find it nestled between the tranquil lakeside Gangarama Buddhist temple and the shady Park Street. Located in the centre of this busy city it’s a surprisingly tranquil refuge offering peace and quiet within the concrete jungle. This Victorian era townhouse used to welcome the cream of Ceylon’s colonial society and has housed governors, maharajas and nobility within its stylish rooms.

Days 3 - 5

Kandy In Central Forest Region

4* Stone House Kandy, Sri Lanka

Bed & Breakfast

After a lovely breakfast you’ll depart Colombo in the late morning to transfer to the beautiful and historic city of Kandy. Known as the capital of the hill country, Kandy transports visitors into the past with its unique blend of history, culture and nature. The town is lovely with colonial buildings repurposed into quaint shops that sell antique jewellery, gemstones and various odds and ends.

The Temple of the Tooth Relic has amazing architecture and is well worth a visit. Interestingly it was once the palace of the last King of Sri Lanka, and houses the sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. Every August Kandy hosts the vibrant ten day Esala Perahera (Festival of the Tooth Relic) that has its origins in the 3rd century BC. The magnificent colourful procession throbs to the beat of drummers and attracts people from all over the country.

The Stone House hotel is the perfect base to explore Kandy and the surrounding area. Visit the vast Peradeniya Botanical Garden (the old Royal garden) plus the Lankatillake and Gadaladeniya temples which showcase Sri Lanka’s rich history and culture. The Kandy National Museum, the Ceylon Tea Museum in Hantana and the Victoria Golf Club are all worth visiting. For beautiful walks the Udawatte Kale Royal Forest Park is worth exploring and central Kandy Lake is stunning for an evening strell. For more energetic hikes head to Hantana Rainforest and the many natural trails you’ll find there.

Sigiriya in The Cultural Triangle

5* Jetwing Vil Uyana, Sigiriya

Departing Kandy in the late morning you’ll proceed to Sigiriya in the wmuch visited region of Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle. In the afternoon you’ll check into the luxurious five star Jetwing Vil Uyana hotel, a sumptuous sanctuary in Sigiriya that remains true to the regal history of its magnificent surroundings. This area abounds with world-renowned national parks and UNESCO World Heritage Sites to visit.

If you like history and culture you’ll be in your element. Visit the historic and mysterious 5th Century Sigiriya Rock Fortress – a monumental granite icon of Sri Lanka that rises from the surrounding jungle. Its neighbour Pidurangala Rock is an alternative climb with amazing views of the Sigiriya fortress. Alternatively, you can head to the Dambulla Cave Temple, which is widely regarded as one of the best-preserved temple complexes in Sri Lanka. Want more? Then the remains of the ancient Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa civilisations can be explored further north.

If wildlife is more your thing you are in for a treat. The Rangirigama Birding Trail has hundreds of endemic and migratory birds to watch and is rightly considered as one of the best open aviaries in Sri Lanka. But you don’t even have to leave the hotel grounds for a wildlife encounter as the habitat surrounding Jetwing Vil Uyana is home to an abundance of exotic flora and fauna. Accompanied by the hotel's resident environmentalist, you can experience on-site wildlife trails, possibly seeing the elusive Fishing Cat. They’ll guide you on an exciting nocturnal wildlife walk, or follow the Loris Night Trail which is a unique experience in Sri Lanka. Armed with red light emitting headlamps, that don’t disturb the wildlife, the environmentalist will take you through the Loris Conservation Site explaining the habitat of this nocturnal primate. You’ll listen to its calls and get an understanding of the behaviour of this elusive mammal in its natural environment.

5* Anantara Dhigu Luxury Family Resort, Maldives

All Inclusive

From Kalpatiya you head to Colombo airport which takes around three hours by road. From there it is a short three hour flight to Male airport in the Maldives. Our representative will meet you and take you to a luxury speedboat for the 45 minute transfer to Anantara Dhigu (or an alternative Maldives resort of your choice).

Anantara is a luxury Maldives resort that offers extremely high quality scuba diving, surfing and kitesurfing. The surf school is regarded as one of the best in the Maldives, offering everything from beginner beach breaks (hard to find in The Maldives) to peeling playful waves ideal for intermediates to impressive barrels for the experts.

The windy season in the Maldives is from May to September, and December to February. During these months there are superb conditions for kitesurfing and kite foiling. The wind is much lighter here than in Sri Lanka, but kitesurfing on the stunning crystal clear waters is an incredible experience.

Finally, the Maldives also delivers beneath the waves with some of the best scuba diving on the planet. The Anantara Resort is part of the South Ari Atoll that’s well known as having some of the top dive sites in the Maldives. Want to dive with Manta Rays? From July to October it is one of the most reliable Manta spots on the planet. Experienced divers will love the channel dives and diving on the tips of underwater mountains surrounded by deep water, known as ‘tilas’, that attract hundreds of reef sharks and an abundance of marine life.
