Why we rate this centre

A sign at the entrance to the five-star Concorde Moreen Beach Resort & Spa reads, “Here begins the stress free zone” — and the experience fully lives up to that promise. Located roughly halfway between Port Ghalib and Marsa Alam, the resort offers a relaxed Red Sea setting paired with professional dive facilities.

On site, one of the newer centres of ORCA Dive Clubs provides a smooth and well-organised diving operation. The base works closely with its sister centre at the nearby Golden Tulip Resort, allowing selected dive sites and parts of the infrastructure to be shared, giving divers access to a broader range of locations while maintaining high operational standards.

At the Concorde Moreen base, the guiding principle is “easy diving.” Equipment is conveniently transported to the jetty by electric golf cart, ensuring minimal effort for guests. Two powerful compressors operate on site, and Nitrox is available for certified divers. A full range of rental equipment sets is provided in ample quantities.

Dives are conducted with 12- or 15-litre aluminium cylinders, while younger divers are equally catered for with 8- or 10-litre tanks. With efficient organisation, quality equipment and thoughtful logistics, the ORCA base at Concorde Moreen ensures a relaxed and seamless diving experience for all levels.

House Reef, Dive Boats & Dive Sites

The house reef in the bay of Abu Dabab is already a true highlight and offers impressive diving directly from shore. Access to the water is either via a 40-metre jetty or straight from the beach, where a small sandy channel leads divers comfortably through the lagoon to the outer reef. Colourful coral formations and abundant marine life make this an ideal site for both relaxed exploration dives and underwater photography.

For boat excursions, guests are transferred to Marsa Alam harbour, where the dive boats depart for some of the Red Sea’s most iconic sites. Trips are regularly organised to the legendary Elphinstone Reef, famous for its dramatic drop-offs and pelagic encounters, as well as to Shaab Samadai, also known as Dolphin House, where spinner dolphins are frequently spotted.

A minibus transfer also operates to Abu Dabab, a site well known for its rich marine biodiversity. Here, divers and snorkellers often encounter dugongs, large green sea turtles and, on occasion, even elusive cookiecutter sharks. With easy shore access, world-class offshore reefs and exciting marine life encounters, the area offers exceptional variety for every level of diver.

Dive Lessons
Nitrox Course
day(s)
From £90

Internationally Recognized PADI Certification. Qualifies you to dive to dive on enriched air nitrox up to 40%. The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is PADI’s most popular specialty scuba diving course, and it’s easy to see why. Scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no decompression dive time. This means more time underwater, especially on repetitive scuba dives. You can typically stay down longer and get back in the water sooner. No wonder many divers choose this as their very first specialty.

Typically when using enriched air divers will get mixes which are either 32% or 36% oxygen, and this makes enriched air ideal for diving at shallower depths. For example, when diving with air to 18 meters/59 feet using the Recreational Dive Planner, you would have a maximum no stop limit of 56 minutes on a single dive. For the same depth, but using a 32% mix of enriched air, you would have a no stop limit of 95 minutes at 18 meters/59 feet. Potentially this means that you would have up to an additional 39 minutes dive time on this profile compared with air, though don’t forget to check your gauges as you will still be breathing through the gas in your cylinder at the same rate.

You will learn techniques for getting more dive time by using enriched air nitrox, enriched air scuba diving equipment considerations, enriched air considerations, including managing oxygen exposure, how to tell what’s in your scuba tank and how to set your dive computer.

Note:

You need to be a certified PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent certification from another organization).
