Diving In Mauritius
Mauritius, in the Indian Ocean, has a lot to offer as a dive destination. With direct flights from the UK and only a 3 hour time difference, it is very accessible. Most of the diving in Mauritius is on the West and North West part of the island, mostly because this is the leeward side away from the prevailing South Westerly trade winds. You can dive in Mauritius all year, but the visibility may be a little better from November to March. Scuba diving in Mauritius is generally quite easy, with a nice mix of wrecks and reefs plus some gentle drift dives on the outer island just off the northwest point.
Mauritius is perfect for a family diving holiday, or a learn-to-dive holiday. If you are an experienced diver looking for world-class marine life, you cannot compare the diving here to the 'big' locations like The Maldives, Red Sea or Indonesia. Mauritius is all about a great beach holiday, with some 'nice diving' combined with exploring the beautiful island.
