Overview Tofo Mar

The sand of Praia do Tofo gave birth in 1969 to what is known today as Hotel Tofo Mar, only 18km from Inhambane, in Mozambique. “Tofo Mar”, later “Marinhos” and now Tofo Mar again, the Hotel has been for decades a reference destination in one of the most beautiful beaches of the Indian Ocean. Totally renovated and expanded, this Boutique Beach Hotel reopened in late 2013 with 8 double rooms, 3 deluxe bedrooms and 2 suites, all superiorly equipped. 

The Hotel also offers a Signature Restaurant, Bar, Massage terrace and a Conference Room. The Hotel not only offers beach service, but also the services of one of the best and better equipped African diving centres. Nevertheless, the Activity Center also offers a wide range of activities like Pansy Island Trips, Fat Bikes, Massages, Quad Bike Trips, Deep Sea Fishing, etc.

Dining

Restaurant da Praia is the in house restaurant for Hotel Tofo Mar. Situated on the main beach of Tofo, its prime location is the best in Tofo, as diners are seated a mere 30m from the warm Indian Ocean. The spectacular view of the turquoise bay is undoubtedly one of the star attractions. The restaurant is divided into two separate sections. Indoors, a minimalist cosy space, outdoors, a large terrace towards an endless sea and the continuous sound of the ocean waves.

The Chef designed the menu based on his Portuguese roots and seasoned it with locally cultivated fruits, herbs and vegetables from the local machambas, also using the freshest seafood from the Tofo fishing boats. The community vision encompasses the training of local young people in Restaurant da Praia, as a way to empower them with knowledge and experience. The menu is meant to be a daily celebration of Tofo, through the unique freshness, flavours and textures of local ingredients, in a food style that fuses both the Portuguese and Mozambican foods.

The hotel bar affords a view of Tofu Beach and the entire bay. In the evening the hotel veranda offers an ideal venue to enjoy live music, traditional dance or theatre.
