Overview Of Filitheyo Island Resort
Filitheyo Island Resort is located in Faafu (North Nilandhe) Atoll, Maldives, around thirty-five minutes by seaplane from the international airport in Male. Filitheyo is the only island resort in Faafu Atoll, a beautiful deserted island where your dreams of walking barefoot on an Indian Ocean beach are realised. Palm trees swaying in the sea breeze, tropical flowers and giant Banyan trees complete the picture. En-circled by a house reef bustling with marine life and a professional dive base, Filitheyo has a strong following amongst the dive community.
Scuba Diving Filitheyo
Filitheyo is located at the Eastern outer reef of North Nilandhe Atoll and the only resort in this atoll. Due to Filitheyo’s solitary position you can expect untouched dive sites offering a great diversity of corals and big fishes. You can dive on the North as well as on the South side of the house reef and one can safely say that it is spectacular. On the North side it drops down to a depth of 90m. In 2009 and 2011 they sunk 2 wrecks on the house reef to offer even more diversity for divers. Divers of all experience levels can dive on both wrecks. Daily trips to the surrounding dive sites also guarantee a great deal of diversification. A lot of big fishes await our divers in the channels!
HOUSE REEF - Spectacular! On the north side it falls to more than 50 meters. 8 entry points, all served with tank shuttle service, make for easy diving on the house reef. Mantas and whale sharks are sighted several times right on the house reef itself. You can go in early morning, as well as on late night dives whenever you wish, provided you dive within safe guidelines. Experienced divers can explore the reef together with their diving partners. It is not compulsory to be accompanied by a diving instructor.
Since November 30, 2009, the house reef at Filitheyo Island offers one more attraction. KM AGRO MINA II. This has been used for many years as fishing boat by AAA and now lies on the North side of Filitheyo Island, its last resting place. The wreck is in an upright position on the bottom at a maximum depth of 32 meters. Before sinking the 30 meter vessel they added additional openings to it, in order to facilitate easier wreck penetration.
BOAT DIVING - They have 3-4 diving boats (Dhonies) which depart daily at 9.00 and 14.30. The various diving spots can be reached within 5-60 minutes. They also offer weekly full-day trips and/or 2-Tank-Dives. These take you too locations with potential manta sightings, on the west side of the atoll. The Dhonies visit 3 or 4 different reefs which vary in difficulty, so there is something for everyone. This gives you the chance to choose the reef which seems most suitable for your personal diving abilities. They offer more than 30 different diving sites. This pristine area and the reefs within it are exclusive to divers from Filitheyo. This is a privilege which cannot be underestimated.
