Dining
Graycliff Restaurant’s cuisine epitomizes elegance in the finest continental and Bahamian tradition with a menu that is both delicious and distinctive. The secret recipes at Graycliff have set its reputation in the hallmark of the rich and famous. Creative culinary innovation has resulted in a variety of sumptuous dishes that are distinctly its own. Sophistication and refinement have creatively transformed Bahamian dishes earning Graycliff Restaurant an international reputation for fine Bahamian cuisine.
The restaurant has four air-conditioned dining rooms and a garden dining area. Each room has a special allusion to the era when Graycliff was a private home from the Library to the Gallery, where the family would retire after dinner to play cards. After your meal, you are invited to once again relax and enjoy the rest of your evening with an after-dinner cognac or cigar.
Graycliff Restaurant offers special meals, culinary lessons and wine & cheese tastings. Graycliff’s Wine Cellar is world-renowned and the wine list has won the prestigious Wine Spectator Grand Award since 1988 and the World of Fine Wines 3-stars since 2015. The Wine Cellar has an inventory of over 250,000 bottles from over 5000 vintners in 20 countries. The Wine Cellar is a connoisseur’s dream, the inventory ranges from today’s most popular vintages to some of the rarest including an 1865 Château Lafite and the oldest and one of the most expensive bottles in the world, a 1727 Rudesheimer Apostelwein from Bremen Ratskeller in the “Rheinghau” Region.
You can also enjoy a relaxing interlude from the hustle and bustle of beach-going and sightseeing at the historic Graycliff Hotel for a Traditional Afternoon Tea. Graycliff celebrates this fine – and delicious – British tradition with a Bahamian twist.
The casual dining venue at Graycliff is the Humidor Churrascaria, Giotto Pizzeria and the Beer Garden. When dining at The Piazza guests can mix and match from the menus of each restaurant and enjoy their personal favourites. For example, guests can savour the salad bar from the Humidor Churrascaria with a pizza from Giotto Pizzeria, or enjoy beers and small bites from the Beer Garden along with a pizza.
Facilities And Activities
For visitors to Nassau who want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the marketplace and the pier, they can relax in the serenity and the laid-back chic at the Caribbean’s first five-star hotel and restaurant, Graycliff Hotel & Restaurant.
The following facilities and activities are also available at the hotel:
Graycliff Cigar Company
The Garzaroli family founded the Graycliff Cigar Company when Enrico Garzaroli fell in love with cigars but was unable to find that “perfect” cigar to complement what Graycliff Hotel and Restaurant has always been known for — excellent cuisine, fine wines and luxurious accommodations. The Graycliff Cigar Company, beginning production in January 1997 with a single roller in the foyer of the Graycliff Restaurant, has now expanded to an award-winning boutique Cigar Company with 16 master rollers, each an expert in the art of cigar rolling. Visitors to The Graycliff Cigar Company, in addition to witnessing first-hand skilled torcedores at work, may also take a Cigar Rolling Lesson or a Cigar and Rum pairing session with the expert craftsmen.
Graycliff Culinary Academy
Enjoy full culinary immersion with Graycliff’s Executive Chef at the Graycliff Culinary Academy. In this interactive class, guests learn the art of Graycliff Restaurant’s cuisine, preparing a specially selected menu paired with a glass of wine. Also included in each session is a tour of Graycliff’s Wine Cellar and a Graycliff apron to take home.
Graycliff Chocolatier
A chocoholic’s dream can come true. At Graycliff Chocolatier guests learn how to make their own chocolates under the tutelage of the master chocolatier or they can simply indulge in these delicious gourmet chocolates. Gourmet chocolates and truffles are available for purchase at the boutique and select retailers throughout The Bahamas.
The Heritage Museum of The Bahamas
The Heritage Museum of The Bahamas opened in July 2014 and is the foundation of Graycliff’s new Heritage Village. Located in the historically preserved Mountbatten House opposite the Graycliff Hotel on West Hill Street, the museum offers visitors an in-depth look at the history and heritage of The Bahamas, ranging from the pre-historic times to the present. The majority of pieces in the exhibition are owned by Hamilton White, a well-known British antiques collector. Mr. White’s expansive collection greatly complements the history of West Hill Street with fossils, relics and treasures spanning the centuries, the oldest of artefacts being a slice of a meteorite, which is approximately 4.5 billion years old.
