Sun Siyam Olhuveli is a beautiful island resort in the Maldives, about 45 minutes by speedboat from Malé airport. It’s made up of two connected islands – one called Main Island and the other Dream Island. The resort is perfect for people who want a mix of calm, adventure, and comfort, whether you’re going as a couple, with friends or as a family.
There are lots of room types to choose from, depending on your style and budget.
- Deluxe Rooms are the most standard option, but still very comfy. They’re found in small buildings surrounded by gardens and are just a short walk from the beach. These rooms have king-size beds, outdoor showers, and private terraces – great for couples or friends looking for something simple and cosy.
- Grand Beach Villas are bigger and sit right on the beach, with a private terrace just steps from the sand. They offer more space, better views, and have outdoor bathrooms with bathtubs. Some even come with private pools if you want a bit of extra luxury.
- Beach Villas with Pool give you your own plunge pool and a little more privacy. They’re perfect if you enjoy swimming without having to leave your villa. The villa itself is surrounded by greenery, and you can still walk straight onto the beach.
- Water Villas are built on stilts over the lagoon and give you direct access to the sea from your own deck. Inside, you’ll find spacious rooms with big windows, modern bathrooms, and sun loungers outside. It’s an amazing experience to wake up with the ocean right under your feet.
- Deluxe Water Villas are a step up from the basic ones, with more stylish décor and extra space, often including bathtubs with ocean views and bigger terraces. Some even come with glass panels in the floor so you can see the sea life below.
- Grand Water Villas with Pool add a private infinity pool overlooking the ocean. These are some of the most popular choices for honeymooners or couples wanting something truly special.
- Prestige Jacuzzi Water Villas are romantic and spacious, with a private outdoor Jacuzzi, luxury interiors, and stunning sunset views. These villas are tucked away for more privacy and are a favourite for honeymooners.
- Sunset Jacuzzi Water Villas are similar but face the sunset, making them perfect if you love ending the day with a glass of wine while watching the sky light up in colour.
Presidential Water Suite is the most luxurious option – a massive two-bedroom villa with its own private pool, dining area, large living room, and butler service. It’s perfect for families, groups of friends, or anyone wanting complete privacy and top-tier luxury.
- Dream Island Villas are on the resort’s second island (Dream Island), which is connected by a walkway or short boat ride. These villas offer a more exclusive, quiet vibe with sleek, modern design and a bit more space between each unit.
Each room type has air conditioning, Wi-Fi, minibars, and plenty of space to relax. Whether you're after a romantic escape, a family holiday, or a solo getaway, there’s a villa at Sun Siyam Olhuveli that will fit your style.
The lagoon around the resort is perfect for watersports. There’s something for everyone – from relaxing kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding to faster options like jet skiing and wakeboarding. The wind conditions at certain times of year make it a great spot for kitesurfing too, and lessons are available if you’re new to it. You can also try parasailing, windsurfing, and even flyboarding if you’re feeling adventurous.
Snorkelling is one of the highlights here. The house reef is full of colourful fish, sea turtles, rays, and even small reef sharks. You can snorkel straight from the beach or go on trips to other reefs and snorkelling spots nearby. There’s even night snorkelling if you want to see the underwater world come alive after dark.
Diving is also a big draw. The resort has its own dive centre with friendly instructors who can guide beginners or take experienced divers out to explore coral reefs, shipwrecks, and underwater caves. The dive sites around the atoll are known for their beauty and variety of sea life.
Food and drink are well covered, with ten restaurants and bars to enjoy. You can try fresh seafood at the beach grill, Asian dishes at the overwater restaurant, pizzas by the pool, or cocktails with sunset views. There are also special dinners you can book, like romantic meals on the beach or private BBQs under the stars.
If you want to relax, the Veyo Spa is a peaceful place set in tropical gardens. There are eight treatment rooms, and the spa offers massages, facials, body scrubs and more – perfect after a day in the sun or out on the water.
Families are welcome at Sun Siyam Olhuveli too. There’s a kids’ club with activities for children aged 4 to 15, and families can stay together in larger rooms or villas. Two kids under 15 can often stay and eat for free when sharing a room with parents, which is a great deal for families.
