Niyama, in detail

Niyama

Niyama Private Islands, Maldives is a unique resort spread across two neighbouring islands, named Play and Chill, connected by a wooden bridge. It offers something for everyone, blending luxury with fun and creativity. Play is designed with a livelier atmosphere, perfect for families and those who enjoy water sports and activities, while Chill is quieter and more tranquil, best for couples and honeymooners seeking privacy and relaxation. This dual personality makes Niyama stand out in the Maldives, offering both romance and family-friendly facilities without compromise. Highlights include spacious villas, one of the best children’s clubs in the Maldives, underwater dining, a vibrant nightlife scene, and easy access to diving and surfing in the Dhaalu Atoll.
The accommodation is stylish and contemporary, with a strong emphasis on privacy. All villas include indoor and outdoor living spaces, private pools, and direct access to either the beach or lagoon.
The Beach Villas measure 135 square metres and are set directly along the beach with gardens for privacy. Each has a king-size bed, a spacious bedroom and living area, an outdoor bathroom with rain shower, a private deck, and a pool with views across the sand and lagoon. These villas are perfect for couples or small families.
The Water Villas with Pool measure 175 square metres and stand over the lagoon with uninterrupted ocean views. They feature a king-size bed, a spacious bathroom with an ocean-view bathtub, a private pool on the deck, loungers, and steps into the water. They are especially popular with honeymooners and couples seeking seclusion.
The Family Beach Pool Villas are 255 square metres and include two bedrooms, a large living and dining area, a private pool, and direct access to the beach. These villas are ideal for families wanting plenty of space.
The Deluxe Beach Pool Villas measure 190 square metres and include a large private pool, generous indoor and outdoor spaces, and a private garden leading to the beach.
The One-Bedroom Water Pool Pavilions are 340 square metres, designed for couples seeking indulgence. They include a master bedroom, a living and dining pavilion, an infinity pool, an expansive sun deck, and direct lagoon access.
The One-Bedroom Beach Pool Pavilions are 400 square metres, with a master suite, separate living and dining pavilions, a large private pool, and private beach access.
The Two-Bedroom Beach Pool Pavilions cover 635 square metres and are designed for families or groups. They include two master suites, a private pool, separate lounges, and a large garden with beach access.
The Crescent is Niyama’s most exclusive offering, a private enclave of five overwater villas that together form a crescent shape across the lagoon. With space for up to fourteen adults and eight children, it includes multiple private pools, decks, and butler service, making it one of the most extravagant accommodations in the Maldives.
Facilities at Niyama are extensive and imaginative. The main infinity pools are set on both Play and Chill, with plenty of space for relaxation. Dining is a highlight, with multiple unique venues. Epicure offers international cuisine by the pool, Edge is an exclusive fine-dining restaurant reached only by boat, and Subsix is the famous underwater restaurant and nightclub located six metres below the surface. Nest is a tree-top restaurant serving Asian fusion cuisine in a jungle canopy, while Tribal specialises in African and South American flavours with a campfire-style atmosphere.
The Drift Spa offers treatments in both overwater and garden pavilions, with wellness programmes, yoga, and meditation available. Fitness enthusiasts can use the modern gym or join group classes.
For water lovers, the resort is exceptional. The dive centre offers PADI courses and trips to local sites, and the atoll is rich in marine life. Snorkelling can be done from the shore or by boat. Niyama is also one of the few Maldivian resorts to offer surfing directly from its shore, attracting surfers from around the world. Water sports such as jet skiing, paddleboarding, wakeboarding, and parasailing are all available.
For families, the Explorers Kids’ Club is one of the largest and most comprehensive in the Maldives, catering to children from twelve months to twelve years with age-appropriate activities, pools, and play areas. Teens also have a range of options with water sports, games, and entertainment.
Evenings at Niyama can be calm or lively depending on preference. Guests on Chill can enjoy romantic beach dinners or stargazing, while those on Play can experience live music, DJ sets at Subsix, or casual gatherings at the bars.
Niyama Private Islands is a resort that truly offers the best of both worlds. Couples can enjoy privacy and romance, while families benefit from some of the best children’s facilities in the country. With underwater dining, surfing, imaginative restaurants, and spacious villas, it appeals to those who want more than just relaxation – a creative and memorable Maldivian escape.
