The Kiwenga/Matemwe PADI dive centre is run by one of Tanzania’s oldest and most reputable dive operations, delighting thousands of visitors since 1993 with unforgettable snorkelling, scuba diving, and certified diving courses. Operating from Kendwa (northwest coast), Matemwe (northeast coast), and Stone Town (west coast), the centre works closely with some of Zanzibar’s finest resorts and beach lodges to provide seamless, world-class diving experiences.
As a 5-star PADI Dive Centre, the centre strictly adheres to all PADI standards. Every dive boat is fully equipped with life jackets, snorkel vests, safety rings, mobile phones, first aid kits, emergency oxygen units, and dual engines for maximum reliability. All dives are led by PADI-certified Divemasters or Instructors, while snorkel excursions are guided by highly trained and experienced snorkel guides. Dive groups are kept small, with a maximum of 6 divers per instructor, ensuring personal attention and a safe, enjoyable experience.
Dive Courses
the centre offers the whole range of PADI qualifications from Bubble Maker to Master diver - all using the PADI curriculum and E-learning methods.
Safety
The team follows a strict Emergency Action Plan across all centres. All staff are trained in Emergency First Response CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen administration, with refresher courses every six months to maintain up-to-date skills. As a DAN Safety Partner, One Ocean is fully prepared to manage any diving medical emergency. Guests are also encouraged to take out dive insurance; temporary DAN memberships are available for holiday coverage.
Before every dive or boat trip, the team consults the latest weather forecasts from Wind Guru, Buoy Weather, Windfinder, and Wisuki to ensure safe conditions. For further safety, a DAN-managed hyperbaric chamber in Stone Town—supported by local dive centres—remains operational for any diving incidents. Several staff members are trained as hyperbaric chamber operators and assistants to provide immediate assistance if required.
