Diving Holidays In Boa Vista

The Republic of Cape Verde (Portuguese: Cabo Verde) is located on an archipelago off the western coast of Africa. The islands of the Cape Verde archipelago are windy, hilly, dry - almost lunar - and fairly sleepy. But there is beauty in the parched hills. And some of the islands are actually lush. There is also good hiking, lively nightlife and plenty of quiet corners to hide away in.

This is a fantastic new diving destination which is truly unspoilt and you can still have the luxury of a dive site to yourself. Although the coral life is pretty limited the fantastic visibility, variety of fish life and the possibility to dive wrecks, caves etc more than makes up for it.

The Diving In Boa Vista

To dive the Cape Verde Islands and Boa Vista means discovering a unique and abundant mix of tropical and Mediterranean marine life. You may find shoals of fish in open water or sheltering in coral covered undercuts in volcanic walls alongside rays or lazily hovering in and around local wrecks. Boa Vista, Cape Verde is a location designed to bring fascinating experiences and discoveries to all divers.

Diving Seasons In Boa Vista

With temperatures too lazy to move far from 25 degrees Celsius, the sunny months of February to June are the time to lounge around the beaches of these islands. In the later months of the year the higher temperatures and humidity might get a bit much for some.

You can be lucky enough to get a glimpse of nurse and sand sharks throughout the year in Sal. From February to June whales are often seen in the area. Due to the turtle breeding season which takes place in March/April you can often see plenty of turtles from June - September. If you're looking for the bigger stuff your best chance for spotting mantas and whalesharks would fall from July - November.

The Nightlife In Boa Vista

The nightlife in Boa Vista revolves mainly around listening to live music, dining out, and relaxing in bars. The night scene is pretty relaxed as the island is not very developed. Dining out in the evening, you can expect to pay between 13 and 20 pounds for a three-course meal with wine. Many restaurants serve fantastic fresh seafood, along with other local specialities.
