Overview Of Cocoa Island

Cocoa Island by COMO is located in Kaafu (South Male) Atoll, Maldives, around forty minutes by speedboat from the international airport in Male. Cocoa Island, managed by the international COMO Hotels & Resorts, is a private Maldives island resort with 33 over water suites each designed in the style of a traditional Maldivian boat, a dhoni. With your room directly over the water allows you to slip effortlessly into the turquoise lagoon to explore the nearby house reef.

Encircled with powder white sand, the carefree, understated luxury experience includes holistic wellness treatments, South Indian-influenced cuisine and some of the best diving in South Male Atoll.

Accommodation At Cocoa Island

The style and design of the 33 overwater suites and villas are like that of no other luxury resort in the Maldives. Uniquely inspired by dhoni boats—the gently curving wooden vessels used by local fishermen—Cocoa Island’s rooms arc out from the island itself. Simple wooden walkways built above the shallow lagoon connect them, forming a sinuous boardwalk pathway.
Each room has its own private terrace, all the better for slipping into the warm Maldivian sea, right from your room. The view from the wide platform is directly out to the watery expanse and horizon. Interiors are dominated by whites and blues, with only the subtlest nod to a certain local rustic aesthetic.
Dhoni Suite : Among Maldives beach resorts, the eight 75 Sqm split-level suites stand out for the generous indoor seating area with a Balinese day-bed, large bathroom and private terrace allowing for easy access to the lagoon’s warm waters.
Dhoni Loft Suite : These nine 110 Sqm rooms work well for families because of an expansive downstairs living area (which doubles up as a sleeping area for children) and then the master bedroom on a mezzanine level, just beneath the rafters. Again the terrace has steps straight into the lagoon.
Loft Villa : With private sundecks and full-length windows overlooking the Indian Ocean, these 123 Sqm Maldives villas bring the outside in. An elevated loft sequesters a king-sized bed while downstairs on the main level a large and airy sitting area doubles up as a sleeping area for kids.
One Bedroom Villa : The largest (125 Sqm) of Cocoa Island water villas, these four light-filled bungalows, all of which sit on their own secluded jetty, feature three private al fresco areas: an outdoor shower, a balcony with a daybed, and off the sitting area, which converts into a kid-friendly sleeping area, there’s a sun terrace fitted with a table and pair of loungers.
Como Villa : Two COMO Villas (Sunset and Sunrise of 300 Sqm) offer a unique experience. Approached by a private jetty, each villa is arranged with two wings, each with a bedroom (one king, one twin), ensuite bathroom, outdoor shower and private terrace. These wings are connected by living and dining areas with balconies on either side, which allows for step-off-the-deck access to the lagoon.
Stay in a COMO Villa and you will experience the personalised butlers. Their role is to ease you through your arrival, organise castaway picnics with the children and arrange meals, becoming your chief activities planners during your stay.
Rooms Amenities :
Private sundeck with loungers and dining table Bathtub and separate shower stall Air conditioning and antique colonial ceiling fan Mini bar and snacks Coffee/tea making facilities (Nespresso machine) 42” LCD/plasma satellite TV DVD player In room safe International direct dial telephone WiFi Internet access

Drink & Dine

Cocoa Island offers some modern restaurants, steeped in the nuances of South Indian cuisine. They also offer contemporary interpretations of other Asian and Mediterranean classics, as well as old favourites like pastas and salads.
The relaxed atmosphere of Ufaa, the main restaurant, belies the sophisticated flavours behind each dish. Dine casually beside the infinity pool and the sea, or eat like a castaway, with meals delivered to your private villa. And Faru, the bar, is where to relax with wines, tasteful cocktails, juices and snacks.
Restaurants:
Ufaa : Unique among restaurants in the Maldives, New Zealand-born Executive Chef draws inspiration from the Malabar Coast’s rich gourmet heritage and local seafood. He also creates modern interpretations of Southeast Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. The kitchen’s tandoor oven allows for fat-free, flavour-rich grilling of meats, vegetables and fish.
With the COMO Shambhala Cuisine, the resort presents health-conscious alternatives at every meal. And three times a week Ufaa offers a set Indian, Thai and Seafood Barbecue dinner menu.
Faru Bar : Faru Bar is an easy, foot-in-the-sand Maldives’ resort bar where the artful bartenders put together refreshing cocktails and mocktails. Wines, cigars and snacks also feature, alongside some easy beats at sunset
