Dive liveaboards that offer something different

Liveaboards give you the chance to explore more of the world’s best diving destinations. Without having to return to shore each night, you can travel further in a shorter space of time, visiting more dive sites, make friends on board, and really immerse yourself in the diving lifestyle.

However, some people believe that liveaboards involve compromising on the quality of the accommodation and that it’s not possible to enjoy the same levels of luxury on the water as on the land. But this is not necessarily the case. Yes, it might be true that it’s not physically possible to feature the same facilities on a boat that a vast hotel complex can offer but in terms of the standard of accommodation, service and overall package, liveaboards can offer something truly special.

Below are some of our favourite dive liveaboards and a brief summary of what makes them stand out from all the other superb liveaboard options we offer here at Planet Dive.

Red Sea Aggressor Egypt

The Red Sea Aggressor sails each Saturday and includes up to five dives per day. In operation since 2014, the boat accommodates up to 20 divers for a mix of itineraries. Enjoy a fantastic week accessing all the big Red Sea diving sites. With large rooms, a great saloon, a covered sun deck with chaise lounges, wet bar and hot tub, plus a BBQ grill area and dive/swim platform with warm freshwater showers, your every need is catered for. Accommodation on this luxury Red Sea liveaboard is full board with three meals a day, which is not unusual for a liveaboard but all drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are also included so you really don’t have to worry about a thing.

Blue Force One

Blue Force One is probably the most luxurious liveaboard currently operating in the Maldives region. This stunning vessel offers a new level of service and comfort that’s hard to beat anywhere in the world. The Blue Force One has 10 very comfortably designed cabins, including lavish master suites which feature a queen size bed overlooking the sea and en-suite bathrooms with bath and jacuzzi for two! On the exterior decks there are sunbeds, a small bar and two hot tubs one while a small spa is set up on the upper deck with sauna and steam-room plus treatments can be booked here. Does it get any more luxurious than that?

Raja Laut

Inspired by the traditional two-masted wooden schooners found in Indonesia, the Raja Laut offers a beautiful traditional liveaboard alternative to the large motorboats of Egypt and the Maldives. This Indonesian dive liveaboard sails to the world-renowned diving areas of Raja Ampat, Triton Bay, the Banda Sea and Komodo National Park. There is plenty of space aboard, so there’s always a quiet corner where you can relax and enjoy the spectacular views. Service is first class, and with just 12 berths and seven crew and three dive guides, the attention to detail is superb.

Carpe Diem Maldives

Carpe Diem is a 35-metre luxury liveaboard with separate fully equipped diving dhoni. Accommodation is spread over four decks so there is plenty of space to enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the Indian Ocean. Soak up the beautiful Maldivian sun, enjoy multiple dive sites and even enjoying guided workshops on board. You can also combine a stay on the Carpe Diem liveaboard with a few nights at the brand new luxury Carpe Diem Resort and Spa for the best of both worlds.

Galapagos Aggressor

The Aggressor III was custom designed, built and equipped to offer added luxury, with an extensive dry-dock every two years ensuring it meets all the local liveaboard regulations. Dive instructors are trained and certified by national certification agencies, so guests can rest assured they will enjoy luxury diving at the same time as preserving the precious Galapagos marine life.
