Whale season has started in Mozambique

July brings the start of Whale Season to Mozambique. The Southern Right and Humpback Whales migrate to warmer waters during the months of July – December and this year the whales have already been spotted as early as late May. The best time to see whales in Mozambique is from August – September. Throughout the Whale Season, clients visiting Mozambique may be lucky enough to spot the Whales.

They migrate to cold waters in high latitudes to feed and then move on to warmer waters to mate and give birth. Each migration season is an extremely important opportunity for marine biologists and dedicated volunteers to collect crucial data on the Whales through digital photography, studying behaviour, GPS positioning and DNA collection.
