This is listed as one of the '1000 places to stay before you die' in the book of the same name which was a New York Times bestseller. You will be staying in an Oceanic Balcony Junior Suite which has an interconnecting superior room with 3 single beds for the children.
Upon arrival, you will check into the rooms and you can treat yourself to the complimentary “Couple’s Spa Package” which includes a full body treatment for the both of you at the in-house spa with L’Occitane En Provence products. This will be an amazing way to relax after your long journey.
After settling in visit the Gangaramaya Temple where your whole family will be blessed by a Buddhist monk with a sacred thread which will be wrapped around your wrists. Witness the hair relics of Lord Buddha enshrined at the temple along with the smallest Buddha statue in the world. The entire temple is a living museum with collections from all around the world.
The Sapumal Foundation is one of the best-kept secrets in the country. Don’t be surprised to have this entire art gallery, all to yourself. This is a quick visit which will give you an idea as to how a group of individuals in Colombo got together to change the country as they saw it through their various talents in Art, Architecture and Writing skills. Explore this amazing collection of best preserved original paintings in the country. You will not see a better collection anywhere else on the island. Spend around 30 minutes at this colonial house.
High Tea will be served at the Galle Face Hotel (between 4-6 pm) where you will enjoy the breathtaking views from the Verandah restaurant which sits at the edge of the Indian Ocean. For more than a century and a half, the High Tea at Galle Face Hotel had been where adventurers, authors, generals and world leaders have sat at this very location sipping Ceylon tea.
A table will be reserved for dinner at the iconic Gallery Café, a semi-fine dining outdoor café and the number one location in Colombo for dinner. This used to be the former office complex of the world renowned Sri Lankan architect – the late Geoffrey Bawa. The open-air dining area looks over an intimate courtyard and reflecting pool. The Sri Lankan – inspired dishes focus on fresh ingredients and bold, clean flavours. Desserts focus on chocolate.
Return back to the hotel and once the children are tucked into the beds, you can take a 2-minute drive to the Kingsbury Hotel where the Sky Lounge at the rooftop offers one of the best places which offer cigars, premium champagne and signature molecular cocktails with accompanying music.

Galle Fort4* Amangalla, Sri Lanka
Bed & Breakfast
After breakfast check out of the hotel and drive to Galle Fort. Meet up with an expert resident in the UNESCO Galle Fort who will take you around this magical enclosed living heritage city showing you the hidden gems and explaining about the lifestyle of the people. This will be a real hands-on experience where you will get a real idea about how the Portuguese, Dutch and the British have left their mark on Sri Lanka and how their descendants are living inside the Dutch Fort.
Visit a Turtle Hatchery in the evening as well. Sri Lanka is home to five of the seven turtle species in the world and several parts of the island are breeding grounds for these turtles. There’re several turtle hatcheries around the country who help the turtles by keeping them in tanks for 4 days and releasing them back into the ocean on the following day, so as to give them a better fighting chance of survival out in the ocean. Visit a hatchery to witness this entire process. Turtle releasing happens during specific times of the day so that the turtles who go into the water will have a better chance, rather than being prey to larger animals.
On the next day go on a whale and dolphin watching session. Drive to the Mirissa harbor to get on board your boat for a session of whale watching where you will have the chance to witness blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. You will have an air conditioned cabin with a bathroom along with a lounge area for relaxation as well.
Lunch will be at the Galle Fort Hotel & Casa Mirissa.
Dinner will be at Fort Printers Hotel.
