CORRALEJO DIVE HOLIDAY OVERVIEW

Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands although one of the least developed. Corralejo offers something for everyone, with a great nightlife, good shopping, and overall value for money. It is a good idea to have care hire, it is cheap, and the roads are really easy to navigate, with the best surf spots only a 10 minute drive, though it is not essential, and everything in Corralejo is within walking distance.

Corralejo is a great place for a family dive holiday, with various dive spots to entertain all levels of diving. The water in Corralejo is beautifully clear, and will offer a different diving experience to other Mediterranean islands due to the slightly cooler water temperatures. 

 

NON DIVING ACTIVITIES IN CORRALEJO

Fuerteventura does offer a wide types for the non-diver; don't forget this is a major holiday destination for many holidaymakers. The key activities are surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, horse riding, trekking and cycling. Excursions in and around Fuerteventura are popular, especially round Lobos, mountain biking and surfing the world class breaks. You can also visit Lanzarote, which is only 45 minutes ferry ride away, travel to Lobos. 

THE DIVING SPOTS IN CORRALEJO

The main diving area is Fuerteventura is located around the area of Lobos, a zone with particularly rich marine life. The area was declared an Underwater Natural Park. This area is home to many species usually found throughout Europe, America, and Africa. In total there are around 40 dive sites.

The sea beds in the diving areas are made up from lava formations. Their crevices are hiding places to numerous fish that live amongst the most diverse species of invertibrates

Although occasionally Dolphins and Sharks may be found, the main species that are seen regularly are:

NIGHTLIFE

In the evenings in Corralejo there are many restaurants to choose from offering Spanish and international cuisine, catering for everyone's budget. It is well worth making the effort to get to Cotillo to sample fresh fish. Of the many bars in the town, Corky's, as well as others, have surf videos running all night and then with the possibility of Waikiki taking your entertainment through to the small hours.
