OVERVIEW
Taba gives its name to the stretch of coastline from the Israeli border southwards, and is one of the most picturesque regions on the Red Sea. The town of Taba has few facilities, making for a peaceful, relaxing holiday. Taba makes a great base for exploring the entire region, as many sights are easy to reach from here. Taba's virtually untouched reefs and dramatic desertscapes also make the area perfect for activities in the water and on land, including snorkelling, diving and quad biking.
THE CLIMATE
During the winter months of November to March the Red Sea coastal resorts of Egypt offer a very comfortable 22 - 28 c, perfect for a bit of winter sun. As you head into the summer months the temperature rises steeply peaking to around 40 C in August (especially in the south)! However, the high temperatures are made more comfortable with very low humidity and a constant seas breeze.
During the winter months we would recommend between 7 and 5 mm wetsuit, but then only a 3mm shortie for the mid summer months. Please note that on some of the deeper dive sites you can encounter colder under currents.
Egypt can be visited year around with equally good diving.
THE DIVING
The Taba coastline is an ideal place to learn to dive, or just to snorkel, with very shallow reefs around 12-14 metres being accessible straight from the beaches. Pristine coral reefs are found close to the shore and there are numerous secluded bays, coves and lagoons waiting to be discovered. Red Sea Waterworld will introduce you to the area.
THE RESORT
Taba Heights, a picturesque, year-round resort that overlooks one of the most beautiful spots on the Sinai peninsula, Taba Heights spreads over 4.5 million square metres of colourful mountains and coastline and boasts 5 kilometres of beautiful and secluded beaches. This magnificent destination offers a collection of world-class leisure hotels and a myriad of services and activities that seek to be discovered. Located on the shores of the Red Sea. Taba Heights is 35 km away from Taba International Airport, and 19 km away from the Taba-Eilat border.
THE ACCOMMODATION
There is a wide choice of hotels in Taba all of a high standard with excellent service throughout. We have visited all the hotels in the area and selected what we feel offer the best value and quality in their class.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Taba Heights resort offers a complete range of water sports with state of the art equipment and professional instructors at hand to help you on your way. Water-skiing, windsurfing and parasailing are the favourites among guests. One of the most beautiful ways to explore the resort coastlines is to hire a boat and enjoy the views from the water. At Taba Heights this is a must.
Immersed in history, Sinai has long attracted travellers from all over the world to discover the mystery and magic of Sinai… Day trips into the interior of the Sinai to experience the desert topography and visit the sites are easily arranged and very popular.
THE NIGHTLIFE
There are a handful of very good bars and restaurants in Taba, mostly based in the hotels. Nightlife is however very limited, with the emphasis being on a relaxing and quiet vacation.
