GENERAL OVERVIEW
There is no question but that the opening (January 2006) of this imaginative and inspirational new hotel concept on Oman's beautiful Indian Ocean coastline represents one of the most exciting all-in-one international resort developments in the entire Gulf region. Reflecting something of every aspect of Oman's colourful tradition, history, environment and culture, Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa embodies three different hotels within one spectacular location.
Here on an idyllic private bay, clustered between jagged mountains and the turquoise seas of the Gulf of Oman, you can choose from three lavishly appointed hotels - each unique in its appeal and orientation, spectacular in design and beguiling in mood. Between them, amid 124 acres of landscaped gardens, extends the Piazza - a meeting-place for shopping events and dining. The resort has a style and setting for all tastes and temperaments. Relaxation and tranquillity by infinity-edge pools or at a world-class Spa; perfect water sports in crystal-clear seas from 500m of private beach. Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa offers memorable cuisine at a choice of 19 sumptuous dining venues. Exciting desert safaris, The Heritage Village complete with souk and shops, and sightseeing and shopping in Muscat, just 15 minutes' shuttle-ride away.
This is the perfect choice for those travelling with their families. The largest of the three hotels within the resort, Al Waha has every amenity right on site for parents and youngsters alike, and is a setting where the elegant Omani backdrop sits easily with more contemporary features like an Internet Café with television walls. The hotel's many focal points include an All-Day Dining restaurant with a South American theme, fast-food and seafood restaurants, a Lobby Lounge and Pool Bar.
